Jakartans Urged to Follow 3M Plus to Prevent Dengue Fever

The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) urges Jakarta residents to be vigilant about dengue fever during the recent rainy season. Based on data, the number of dengue cases in January 2025 has increased compared to the previous month.

This serves as a reminder for us to be more vigilant

Jakarta Dinkes Head, Ani Ruspitawati stated that in January 2025, there were 670 dengue fever cases. This number was higher compared to December 2024, which recorded 379 cases, increasing 77 percent.

Looking at the trends from the previous year, she explained dengue cases tend to spike after February, with peaks occurring in April and May. Thereby, residents were urged to be more vigilant, especially during the rainy season like now.

"This serves as a reminder for us to be more vigilant about the potential extraordinary events related to dengue. Control efforts must be implemented immediately, especially with the 3M Plus program," she expressed, Thursday (2/13).

She explained the 3M Plus program is a key step in preventing dengue fever. Residents were urged to Drain "Menguras" water storage places, Close "Menutup" water containers tightly, and Recycle "Mendaur" used items that may become mosquito breeding grounds.

Meanwhile, "Plus" refers to various additional actions, such as using mosquito repellent, installing mosquito nets, and boosting the immune system.

"With this rising trend, we urge residents to implement it immediately to prevent a major outbreak in the coming months," she explained.

He added the Jakarta Government encouraged residents to be more active in the Jumantik (wiggler hunter) program in their households and schools.

"This step is important to prevent a surge in cases like what occurred from March to May 2024, where dengue cases exceeded 3,000 per month," he said.
